Dementia Physiotherapy in Oxford

Treatment for dementia

Improve Your Quality of Life

There are different forms of dementia and all of them can impact on mobility, movement and walking. Individuals with dementia have an increased likelihood of having muscle weakness, have a higher risk of falling and can find it difficult to describe pain that they could be experiencing.
Physiotherapy can help to maintain and improve mobility, balance, function and promote independence where able. Movement, physical activity and functional movements can help to optimise wellbeing and overall function.

How we work

Oxhab offer a personalised and client centred approach in the physiotherapy assessment and follow-up treatment sessions. We understand the importance to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as required in the provision of a holistic approach to optimise the wellbeing of the client and the outcome of any treatment as part of rehabilitation. Oxhab have extensive experience and specialist skills in providing rehabilitation for clients who have dementia, including clients who may present with complex needs.
Physiotherapy treatment with Oxhab may include rhythmical exercise to music to provide enjoyable and engaging opportunities to increase movement. Functional and meaningful movement may also be used to enhance the outcome of each physiotherapy session. Physiotherapy treatment may also include advice for postural management and stretches, to reduce the effects of postural changes over time and help improve comfort.
